Look forward to over 20 culinary events by Asia’s best chefs in November
Singapore, 22 September 2011 – The best of Asian epicurean delights will be celebrated at the second edition of Asian Masters from 1 to 30 November 2011.
Targeted at food aficionados with a taste for the good life, Asian Masters is a unique platform showcasing a myriad of gourmet activities which include demonstrations, workshops, luncheons, gala dinners and tastings.
Asian Masters is organised by Sphere Exhibits Pte Ltd (Sphere Exhibits), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) along with presenting partner American Express®.
The first Asian Masters was held earlier this year from 3 to 30 January, with 17 events over five weeks.
Following the success of the inaugural edition, Asian Masters will be returning in November with a more prominent line-up of events. Positioned as a key regional bi-annual event that takes place over an entire month, its reach will extend far beyond Singapore’s shores to visitors from Hong Kong, China to Japan and Malaysia.
Mr. Chua Wee Phong, Executive Director of Sphere Exhibits, said: “The inaugural Asian Masters held in January this year was a great success, with places for many of the 17 events taken up very quickly. For our second edition, we have prepared a bigger and better Asian Masters involving some of the best chefs locally and from the region. In particular, we have invited four Asian Master Chefs for our Gourmet Signature series, double the number we had for our inaugural edition.”

Priority booking period for all American Express Cardmembers will start from 1 October for the duration of 15 days before booking is open to public. With the exception of the five highly anticipated events that are made available exclusively for American Express Cardmembers, Cardmembers can receive 15 per cent discount on all Asian Masters event bookings. In addition, they can also sample the specially created Feast Asia set menus available at more than 40 restaurants during the whole month of Asian Masters.

The second edition of Asian Masters will feature more than 20 events at various top notch venues, renowned wineries and a broad spectrum of various Asian cuisines in six exciting facets:
A) Gourmet Signatures
Embark on an epicurean adventure with prominent Asian Master Chefs flown in especially for Asian Masters. Hosted at prominent Singapore gourmet establishments, each of the Master Chefs will be showcasing their specialties for a week.
For the second edition of Asian Masters, food lovers will get to enjoy the cuisine prepared by four top chefs who are based in Asia – Chef David Du, Chef Max Levy, Chef Wan and Chef Ian Kittichai:
- Chef David Du is Chef du Cuisine of Xin Da Lu-China Kitchen, Hyatt on the Bund in Shanghai since 2009 and has over 18 years of culinary experience. He will prepare authentic cuisine from Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing from 1 – 6 November at Mezza9 at Grand Hyatt Singapore. (Lunch and Dinner)
- American Chef Max Levy, Chef De Cuisine of Beijing’s Bei and Apothecary Cocktails and Dining. He will be presenting his modern Asian cuisine combining essence of Japanese cooking and Northern Chinese flavours at KU DE TA, Marina Bay Sands from 7 to 13 November. (Lunch and Dinner)
- Chef Wan, who has 20 years of culinary experience, is possibly Malaysia’s most famous food ambassador. He is also a food critic, an author of 12 cookbooks, actor and an entrepreneur. From 13 to 19 November, the ever entertaining and effervescent chef will be presenting his favourite Malaysian cuisine at the Straits Kitchen at Grand Hyatt Singapore, as well as a high tea cooking workshop. - Chef Ian Kittichai is a celebrity chef whose weekly cooking show, Chef Mue Tong (The Golden Hand Chef) can be seen in over 70 countries. He has vast culinary experience from places such as Paris, Napa Valley, Tokyo and Spain. From 21 to 17 November, Chef Kittichai will be presenting a special menu of authentic Thai cuisine and a degustation dinner at Patara Fine Thai Cuisine, as well as holding cooking workshops.
B) Lifestyle Affairs
Get the best of both worlds with Lifestyle Affairs events which feature lifestyle programs infused with gourmet delights. Hosted at a myriad of premium venues, Lifestyle Affairs events are sensory experiences like no other.
Highlights include the Asian Masters Gala Dinner on 30 November, which will see tribute given to icons of the food and beverage as well as hospitality industry. At the Gala Dinner, guests will feast on a menu of signature Asian favourites created by the Singapore National Culinary Team paired with a selection of wines.
Another highlight is The Pink Dinner at Clifford at the Fullerton Bay Hotel on 17 November. This dinner celebrates women and is prepared by some of Singapore’s leading female culinary talents including Forrest Leong (Sam.Leong@Forest Cooking School) and Chef Samia Ahad (Coriander Leaf). Guests will also be treated to the soulful vocals of Jazz artist Clarissa Monteiro. The Pink Dinner is supported by Her World magazine.
C) Vintner Sessions
Savor rare handpicked collections of wines from the New and Old World. Featuring wine tasting sessions moderated by renowned winemakers and exclusive wine dinners with the pairing of exquisite cuisine meticulously prepared by culinary masters. The Vintner Sessions promise to be gastronomical experiences. There will be tastings of wines from Henschke, Domaine Faiveley and Chapoutier.
D) Gastronomic Treasures
Be enthralled by the culinary prowess of Asia’s top chefs with exclusive Gastronomic Treasures dinners. Each chef will be presenting a specially created menu using the finest ingredients, prepared in his or her signature style.
Some of the chefs that will be featured include renowned Singaporean chef Andre Chiang, whose restaurant has recently made it to the list of San Pellegrino’s World’s 100 Best Restaurant for 2011 and internationally-acclaimed celebrity chef Susur Lee.
E) The Masters' Workshops
Discover cooking tips to whip up your favourite dish or meet like-minded gourmands at cooking demonstrations and tasting sessions to pick up the finer points of Asian cooking. Our leading culinary maestros take centre stage with a series of intimate cooking workshops and demonstrations showcasing their signature Asian-inspired dishes.
F) Feast Asia
Enjoy month-long dining offers at popular Asian restaurants, featuring exclusive Asian Masters three-to-eight-course set menus.
